The Double S Ranch was established in 2003 when Shawn & Susan Skains bought some old cattle pasture land in Santa Fe, TX and decided to build a house and put down roots in this rural Galveston County community.

We experimented with raising a couple different breeds of cows, before finally settling on Akaushi, the "Emporer's Breed" of Japanese Wagyu. We wanted the cows in our pasture to look as beautiful as they taste!

Our Wagyu beef is 100% organic and raised with love and respect. We finish our cows on a proprietary blend of white grains for a minimum of 12 months before processing. Our motto is the same as a famous Texas ice cream company.... "We eat all we can and sell the rest".

The Tap Wagon is a custom-built Draft & Craft Beverage Trailer, designed to bring the celebration to any location. Our trailer is designed for ease of use and versatility, for any types of occasions, such as: weddings, BBQ cookoffs and crawfish boils, corporate events, grand openings, birthdays and anniversaries, community gatherings and sporting events, just to name a few. The Tap Wagon is a “DBA”, wholly owned by Double S Ranch of Texas, LLC, a woman and minority-owned business in Galveston County, Texas. We are fully licensed by the TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) to sell and serve malt beverages and wine with an abv of up to 17%. The Tap Wagon has 10 exterior beverage taps, with both Co2 and N2 functionality, allowing for the distribution of any type of malt (beer) drinks, as well as wine, hard seltzers, juices, water, tea, etc. We also have 4 taps and specialty kegs that can be dedicated to mixed cocktails.
Along with the Tap Wagon beverage trailer, Double S Ranch of Texas, LLC has an air-conditioned cargo trailer loaded with all the equipment needed for your own personal Beer Garden! We have 10X20 awnings with vented roofs and side walls with windows; 6-ft round dining tables; 8-ft registration and serving tables; 4-ft bistro tables; chairs and bar stools. We provide fitted, fabric tablecloths in a variety of color options. There is perimeter fencing (not security, boundary only); signs and banners (beer garden, ice cold beer, ice cold beverages, etc.). We also offer outdoor games such as corn hole and lawn Yatzee, to keep your guests entertained. Let us bring a personalized Beer Garden to your event! We will set it up, serve your guests the drinks of your choice, and clean up afterwards. Our current pricing structure is a flat rate for set up and clean up, and then a very reasonable “per drink” cost, based off sales of drink tickets that we provide to you in advance.

We have all the equipment for your next special BBQ or cookout event, except the food & cookers! We have beautiful stainless steel chafing dishes and custom-designed dinnerware to make your event professional and memorable. Competition-style BBQ warming boxes. Cold and hot drink dispensers; soup/beans/gravy warmers. We have tables, chairs, awnings and other specialty equipment available in our inventory. Fitted, cloth table coverings in many colors. If you need it, and we don't have it, we will get it! We can lease to you any equipment you may need, for much less than the larger Commercial Party Rental Companies. All of our catering and party rental equipment is stored in an air-conditioned 7'X14' attractive cargo trailer that we can drop off and pick up at the location of your choice. Items are priced individually, per day, or as a bulk/package price for your whole event. Our Akaushi Red Wagyu cows are processed in a USDA certified facility in Poth, Texas. All meat is graded, labeled, weighed and vacuum-sealed in individual packaging. As a start-up business, and very small ranch, we do not have all cuts, all of the time. We have what we have, until we run out, and must wait for the next batch of cows to be processed. If we do not have the cut and/or quantity you need, we can give you recommendations of some of our friends in the Wagyu beef business that may be able to help you! We do not ship, as of yet, but can meet you locally to deliver your meat. Prices fluctuate with market trends, so please call or email your inquiries to us.

Pregnant Recip Cow
Very large cow bred back to DSR Prince, with a calving date of spring 2026. This gentle lady was a recip to an ET calf (not available). Gives birth unassisted and has huge milk bag - has been known to nurse up to 3 calves at a time! She would be an asset to any breeding program!
