The name Double S Ranch was created in 2001 when Shawn & Susan Skains bought some old cattle pasture land in Santa Fe, TX and decided to build a house and put down roots in this rural Galveston County community.

We experimented with raising a couple different breeds of cows, before finally settling on Akaushi, the "Emporer's Breed" of Japanese Wagyu. We wanted the cows in our pasture to look as beautiful as they taste!

Our Wagyu beef is 100% organic and raised with love and respect. We finish our cows on a proprietary blend of white grains for a minimum of 12 months before processing. Our motto is the same as a famous Texas ice cream company.... "We eat all we can and sell the rest".

Our Akaushi Red Wagyu cows are processed in a USDA certified facility in Poth, Texas. All meat is graded, labeled, weighed and vacuum-sealed in individual packaging. As a start-up business, and very small ranch, we do not have all cuts, all of the time. We have what we have, until we run out, and must wait for the next batch of cows to be processed. If we do not have the cut and/or quantity you need, we can give you recommendations of some of our friends in the Wagyu beef business that may be able to help you! We do not ship, as of yet, but can meet you locally to deliver your meat. Prices fluctuate with market trends, so please call or email your inquiries to us.

Let us cater your next special BBQ event! We can make menu suggestions, based on the size of your celebration, or work with your established menu ideas. We have beautiful stainless steel chafing dishes and custom-designed dinner ware to make your event professional and memorable. Double S Ranch utilizes only the finest Texas-made smokers and grills to prepare your award-winning feast. We have tables, chairs, awnings and other specialty equipment available in our inventory. If you need it, and we don't have it, we will get it! If you choose to do your own cooking and planning, we can lease to you any equipment you may need, for much less than the larger Commercial Party Rental Companies.

Double S Ranch freeze-dried candy is definitely something you need at your next party, gathering, or gift-giving occasion. We special in "old school" candy, as well as all the modern candy that today's kids are used to. When was the last time you tried freeze-dried circus peanuts? Some of our more popular candies are: Bit-O-Honey, Charleston Chews, Riesen dark chocolate caramels, sea salt chocolate caramels, Peanut Butter bars, Mary Janes, Chico Stix. We have every flavor of Skittles sold on the store shelves, available freeze-dried, as well as over 100 flavors of saltwater taffy. We can customize the freeze-dried candy offerings by color (all green and yellow for Santa Fe ISD, for example), or taste profile - chocolate-flavored candies, taffies, sour candies, and many other "themes" popular with children's parties. We also have freeze-dried ice cream and some specialty items like banana pudding bites (so SO good!). I can offer samples of anything you'd like, if you aren't sure what candy you would prefer at your event. All FD'd candy is made to order, to insure maximum freshness, so a minimum 7 days notice is requested.
